Acceptable use policy
The short version
- Sell real goods and services, described honestly.
- An agent may ask; it may never pressure, impersonate or deceive.
- Everything Stripe prohibits is prohibited here too.
- §1
Honest requests
Every request must describe what is being paid for, use the right goods_type — physical, service or digital — and match what the payer agreed to.
- §2
How agents may ask
Agents must identify who is being paid, never impersonate a person or company, and never create urgency to push a payment. One request per purchase; no repeated asks after a no.
- §3
Prohibited businesses
Anything on Stripe’s restricted-businesses list, plus gambling, adult content, weapons, controlled substances, debt collection and money transmission.
- §4
No evasion
Opening new accounts to get around a suspension, splitting requests to stay under limits, or masking the merchant of record are grounds for termination.
- §5
Reporting abuse
Payers can report any request from its receipt or checkout page. Reports reach us and the merchant, and are logged on the request.
